In Honour of Craig Spence

The Craig Spence Foundation has been established to honour the legacy of our son, brother, friend and teammate, Craig Spence, who was tragically taken from us in an automobile accident on April 16, 2024. He was 22 years old. In his short life, he positively touched the lives of so many people.

Growing up in Chatham Kent, Craig was heavily involved in sports including extracurriculars at Gregory Drive Public School and Chatham Kent Secondary School, as well as organized hockey, baseball and golf. He was a gifted and natural athlete. His hockey career started out in minor hockey with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones, and his dedication at every level led to him being drafted in the 7th round by the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads in 2018. He played alongside his brother Grant with the Georgetown Raiders of the OJHL, then came back to lead the Chatham Maroons to the Sutherland Cup finals in 2022. He proudly wore the number 10 and played his final year of junior eligibility as the Captain of the Blenheim Blades, where he was named the 2023/2024 Stobb’s Division Defenseman of the Year. His positive impact as an influential player and leader was admired and respected by coaches, teammates and the communities that he played and lived in.

Craig graduated from the business marketing program at St. Clair College and began a promising sales career with TTI Milwaukee Tools in 2023.

Whether it was with friends, family or mentoring younger players, Craig was a giver of his time. He was the guy that always brought people together. He had a kind heart, a magnetic personality, and an incredible zest for life. He brought joy to every person he touched.

It is in that spirit and in the way he lived his life, that we will continue to honour him through the Craig Spence Foundation. #CS10Forever
